Crystal Jewelry
Transferring Instructions
Read these instructions completely before you begin.
Supplies Needed
• Sublimatable Crystal Jewelry
• Sublimation Transfer
• Heat Resistant Felt Pad(s)
• Heat Gloves
Step 1: Adjust Heat Press
Heat Press Temperature: 400o F
Dwell Time: 3 minutes
Pressure: Medium to Firm
Note: These instructions, including transfer times and temperatures, are based on the inks, paper, presses, and products we use. Your inks, papers, etc. may require adjustments in your settings.
Step 2: Design & Print Your Transfer
Note: Do Not Reverse The Image. Design your transfer based on the jewelry size and shape. Do not reverse the image. If you are designing a full-bleed image, we recommend that you design the transfer so that it is at least 1/8” larger than the piece, all the way around. This bleed allowance is already built into our templates. Our templates are posted on our website at http://www.laserreproductions.com/Design-Templates.html.
Step 3: Transfer the Image
1. Place 2 layers of LRI’s ¼” thick Heat Resistant Felt Pads on your press bed. Single Felt Pads can be folded over multiple times to create layers.
2. If you are pressing crystal inserts remove the glass from the insert before pressing.
3. Place your transfer face-up on the felt pads.
4. Place the jewelry coated side down on the transfer.
5. Tape in position to insure registration.
6. Using Medium to Firm pressure, press for 3 minutes at 400o F.
Step 4: Cooling
Carefully remove jewelry from the press using heat gloves. For best results, allow the jewelry to cool slowly; do not immerse Crystal Jewelry in water or cool with a fan!
Transfer Tips & Tricks
If the crystal does not transfer fully around edges, try wetting the back of the transfer paper lightly with a damp sponge before pressing.
If you notice paper sticking, reduce the dwell time or temperature. Reduce one variable at a time. If that does not help, call Technical Support for assistance.
If you use several thicknesses of felt pad, you may need to gradually tighten the press each time in order to maintain good pressure from piece to piece.
To secure white-coated crystal pendants to jewelry frames or accessories such as pin backs or barrettes, use E6000 adhesive or any 100% clear silicone based sealant.
Do NOT use glue on the back of frost-coated crystal jewelry. Glue will make a frost coating "disappear".
If you have other problems or questions while pressing, stop production immediately and contact Technical Support for help.
